District Pairs

2024 District Pairs

Monday 25th March saw the sectional play for the District Pairs for 2024 at Pine Rivers Bowls Club.

We had 24 entries which was a great number.

Even though it rained most of the day we all enjoyed the bowls as well as the company.

Results from today and Wednesday play at Pine Rivers (be there at 8.30) as follows

Section 1 A Sharp Bribie Island will have a bye on Wednesday

Section 2 winner – H Taylor Bribie Island will play

Section 3 winner – L Mitchell Pine Rivers Ladies

Section 4 winner – K Perkins Bribie Island will play

Section 5 winner – P Wales Pine Rivers Ladies

Section 6 winner – S Brady Pine Rivers Ladies will have a bye.

Wednesday 26th March saw the post sectional play for the District Pairs at Pine Rivers.

L Mitchell and partner – Pine Rivers def H Taylor and partner – Bribie Island

P Wales and partner – Pine Rivers def K Perkins and partner – Bribie Island.

The semi/finals played at Bribie Island.

Thursday 28th March – Semi/Finals

This morning Alana Sharp and Janet Gray Bribie Island def Linda Mitchell and Denise Burey Pine Rivers

Pat Wales and Roz Myles Pine Rivers def Sue Brady and Kay Lehmann Pine Rivers

This afternoon saw Alana Sharp and Janet Gray Bribie Island def Pat Wales and Roz Myles Pine Rivers.

What great games they were.

2023 District Pairs

The District Pairs were played this week. Sectional play were played on Monday at Solander Lake, the post sectional were played at Bramble Bay on Tuesday and the semi-finals and the finals were played on Wednesday at Bramble Bay.

The finalists were B Wise and J Carlish from Pine Rivers against M McIntyre and E Stacey from Bribie Island.

The winners were Bribie Island.

2022 

The 2022 District Pairs Sectional play commenced on Monday 28 March at Pine Rivers.  18 teams entered this years competition.

Due to the weather the Quarter Final was transferred from Kallangur to Pine Rivers on Tuesday 29 March, the Semi Final and Final will also be played at Pine Rivers on Wednesday 30 March.

2021 

On Tuesday 18th May Sectional play for the District Pairs was played Kallangur Memorial Bowls Club.  Rain cancelled original dates of play (22-24 March).   Play was rescheduled to 18-19 May.   22 teams originally entered the competition; however, availability for the rescheduled dates reduced to 16 teams.

Sectional winners from Tuesday advanced to the semi finals at Narangba Bowls Club on 19th May, in Semi Final 1, Linda Mitchell and Liz Ferguson from Pine Rivers defeated Noela Gray and Lois Gilmour from Bribie Island, and Semi Final 2, Desley McDougall and Lesley Wright from Bribie Island defeated Mary Geddes and Karen Perkins from Bribie Island.

In the final Linda and Liz defeated Desley and Lesley.

It was a great game played with great sportsmanship.
